Tad pole reporter given the job
Of obituary writer. Fame and fortune
Left here to roam.

Tagging with a beat cop we walk the hell
Holes of where the mighty fall

There is a cry out in the moonlight
Of another hero a pleader to the throne
In all her glory she smiles
At the junkie
And waits to be alone

Drawer and needle line the willow
Of her veins
She is wise
To the chariots of a down town bus

Now her royal face is aged
From all the drugs that hold her name
Softly the harps start playing
Angels and devils saying she is home again

I hear the sirens blowing
Her heart is slowing
As they load her up inside
And the queen of the alley

Has died

There is a tombstone
Inside the silver dollar
A tip jar on the piano
Where the queen lived and died

And in the tribute
to the lady
Another lonely baby
Has step up to take the ride

In the quit of the evening
At an old typewriter
A tadpole reporter
Cries at his mothers death
