Completion

by Jeff Mason — Read all 207 poems by Jeff Mason

I showed this to a friend, and the
friend liked it, so I'll post it.

Friday, June 25, 2004

I tasted salty sweat
run down your face
as we cast ourselves
from the rim of that
useless canyon;

footholds disappeared
as we swam
among the lining
of the clouds;

together... we knew...
never again would we
touch ground --

for we had found
one another --

again,

at last,

beneath the reef;

protecting us from
harsh waves...
crashing all around us;
falling harmless --
retreating back...
into the angry sea.

the small of your back,
within my hands,
and me within your arms,
sent shivers of
uncontrollable delight
through my core;

and you as well,
became one with me...
as we heard the bell
ring in the distance,
for us...
for our time;

our sun was finally rising...

so hung the golden bell that swayed,
and rang our unity,

as our hearts there played --
as we kissed feverishly,
long into the night...

tasting endless passion,
completely blinded
by its searing light...

that loving hold,
impervious grasp
upon our souls...

we burned in spirit fire,
a beautiful, frothy pain

as softly fell
a gentle rain...
upon our skin;

the whispering wind...
became our carousel,
tossing scattered leaves around
in spiralled wishing wells
of hope...
amid our dreams.

our thoughts as raging streams,
upon each other,
ever knowing that faintest ache
within ourselves
that would grow...

as we at last would
have to part,
and go...

to separate shores
until our hearts
again could blend --
within...
the crucible
of life and love
that knows no end,

but that which two
shall spend --
as one -

and that which few
shall ever know,
but we as soul mates bound
had once again now found,

on this the hallowed ground
of love requited,
satiated,
whole and free;

me...
completing you,

and you...
completing me.

Your friend did well on convincing you to post it.
It is excellent. You painted a beautiful picture of love and compassion.
And I love the ending: me..completing you and you..completing me. That is what true love is about.
Perfect write

I see an action in every line, and a vivid image to go with it. Beautiful poem in which title and summation come together.

"Completion" completes its messages tells the story and delivers a grandiloquent poem. A beautiful flower for the Vase of Poetry.

I salute You, Sublime Poet!
