the sadness
deep within
encroaches full
upon my soul;
attacking
centered reason,
dividing parts
that once were whole;
and magnifies itself
in true winds
blown;
ever seething;
filled --
with what I
should have known:
that after all,
my heart
is not my own.
it lives within
a hidden haunted space;
a crumbling castle;
habitat of disgrace;
bound by only
scented mem'ries of
your subtle silken lace;
unable to
pretend to be
the solid fortress --
holding course
for certain rectitude;
once again,
relenting --
giving in;
seeking you;
my destined fortitude;
as you have been
to me,
the only key;
with which I --
could unlock these chains
that held me fast,
in throes of pains,
in starkest shadows cast,
among the ruins --
of the past.
then I a last
redeemed myself,
as I found you,
lying there,
upon the cusp of
sudden tempest,
no longer
in the safety of your lair;
stirring there,
within those waters,
filled with anguish,
rapt with need;
seeking solid ground;
begging... to be found;
I heard you plead --
as you planted,
deep within me,
your blessed
sentient seed...
your voice to me,
the perfect song;
that subtle breeze,
for which I long.
within the wind,
I heard your cry;
and answered softly:
for you --
my love I can't deny.
