perfect imperfection

in ev'ry thought
i have of you,

i sense a calm
that sees me through...

here once again,
i won't confuse

what isn't true ...

left all alone,
i'm swept away;

wishing that you
were here today...

because with you,
i need no ruse...

time's kept at bay...

each time we touch
i live anew...

your sacred breath
sends me askew...

soft subtle smile
i can't refuse;

i need just you.

and if i should
perchance withdraw...

i'll look at you
in raptured awe

and recognize
my priceless muse...

without one flaw

This is beautiful, and so refreshing after the pretentious poem I just read by someone who thinks they sound really smart dropping names of other artistic greats- this shows concise writing, written by someone who is more sure of their talent, the way they get it across, and their words.

Stunning, Jeff, and a keeper for sure. Effortless as breathing, such succinct expressions of deep sentiment and admiration that are both refreshing and satisfying. Beauty in the simplicity and the short lines and reflexive rhyming - a written form that amply demonstrates that "short" is, indeed "sweet"! Thank you for this - a Muse's ode supreme, for sure! LOL Kate xx
