180 over 60 (potential song?)

by Jeff Mason — Read all 207 poems by Jeff Mason

A poem written for a friend - from her perspective - she's had quite a few bad experiences, and has had friends all around, but was never willing to let those friends help her. But... she is slowly beginning to change.

Monday, September 5, 2005

this is my life,
my fine line
between what i used to be
and what i've
always longed to be...

this is my heart,
destroyed over and over...
so many times
it's never truly been set free

and i'm left wandering...
so desp'rately

wondering where
i really need to be...

and where's the promise
of that future?

the one that i
so achingly
and would so willingly
bleed to see...

this is my love,
here for the taking

but only by the one
who'll stop the breaking

for the final time

and take away
the fear

of these dreams

from which
there seems

to be

no waking;

only penance
for the guiltless crime

of never knowing
how to let myself be loved

always searching
for the antidote to me

and could it be
i'd overlooked the perfect rhyme?

that the final verse
had long been written

ever flowing, so sublime...
somewhere

there before me...

with utmost care;

and blinded by my pain
i never saw

that those endless
drops of rain

were simply tears
you'd tried to share

to show how much
i meant to you

and i took your love
for granted

a perfect friendship
right before my eyes,

when i should have seen,
that all along...

the one thing that i
needed most

was the one thing
that never did me wrong
the something
without compromise:

you;

the steadfast friend
who
always stood beside me

kept me going
the one who never did deride me

and forever left me knowing
that

you were there.

Dear Jeff, you express the naked truth. Let's hope that our writing can erase the pain that many people are suffering on this earth. God bless you and send His Love to those who still struggle and to those who left us already. Great write my friend.
