I definitely get the first word, but with me it should be dumb, though many a time in my life I have been as well numb...ed

Yes indeed I found this to be a masterpiece Jeff, although when one does not know the writer, it leaves me to wonder if this poem is fact or fiction. From my own experiences of emotinal turmiol, I would chance to say it is fact. The heart is gentle, and should never be stomped on, but that would be only wishful thinking, and not reality. God Bless, Holly

So powerfully written, the anguish and pain so evident in this outstanding poem, just really got to me today, outstanding.

Is it true that we create our own destiny...that the energy we give off is in direct proportion to that which we attract? We put ourselves and our hearts on the line and there are no guarantees...only risks of faith and the potential for emptiness.

But how interesting that even through the numbness and the hurt...we find we need someone and are willing even to the point of searching for for a meeting of the mind and bodies again. In tht respect I read your closing verse with double meaning...and hunan-ness.

"be strong enough
that i would not – once again –
succumb?"

Your knack for powtry demonstrates your resilliance, as well as your pain, my friend...emotively profound and touching.
Love,
Taylor

This struck me quite effectively as Sarcophagus 2 Jeff.

As if the wine had more time to ferment and thicken. The wounds and indiscretions that humans force upon one another is truly a world unto itself.

Some people never recover from certain wounds. I have been through two such debilitating endings Jeff. Women that I gave my heart too, and trusted. The ends both came unexpectedly and I was left standing naked on a frigid mountaintop of broken glass.

My liberation came when I forced myself to find the positive in the negative. At first it seemed futile, but the more I tried, and spoke it out to myself in the mirror, the stronger I got.

Powerfully emotional writing here that is personally evocative in my own life. I do not believe that this is the work of imagination. I believe that it is quite personal.

Hi Jeff:

This is so well-written. Your raw emotions and your tremendous longings are well-expressed in this piece. I can feel that pain.

One can never tell when reading the poetry of others if the work relates to their current state or condition and it's hard to know how to respond appropriately. Whether this is pertinent or not to your life, it was an extremely raw and emotive write and it impacted strongly upon me. You've used unusual methods to deliver your message but they are most effective.
I wish you well Jeff and pray that you find happiness and fulfilment in every area.
