firestarter - fallout from the exodus

by Jeff Mason — Read all 207 poems by Jeff Mason

a need; an ache... and where to go?

Monday, June 18, 2007

in many years i have not felt this wholeness
that i feel with thee

and i shall not yield this smallest glint of hope
i've found...
in tremors you instill in me

only few can start the deepest fire within me;
fewer still can keep the flame alive
and i have found in you the truth of light
for which i know makes my heart fully thrive

and still i want to know
every single taste of you - again

because each time
with you it feels so new - and when...

i breathe, i taste
the salty sweetness of your skin

i want to know the best and worst of you
to live among your passion's blameless sin

i long to be the fuel that wets your wick

and i ache for you to feel the fire
my flames can lick...

to feed your fiercest heat
with every single tick
as time inflames our pure desire

your transfiguration now complete...
mine, still held in anxious wait,
for what i'd hoped i'd found in you

so now i know that i must take
the bitter with the sweet...
now wondering what's a lie and what is true

yet i vow i will not stretch your reach
beyond what you can bear
and i will be the balm to help you heal
and the breeze... to always take you there

your exodus was felt in
profound reverberations
throughout the very crux of me

though i was blind to
other things

your abandonment of me
was the one thing that
i hoped i'd never see

but since you had to go...
i know...
maybe you have gone some place
i cannot hope to follow

yet my hunger and my thirst for you;
they shall not ever wane...

and in my solitude i know
i now must swallow
my own pain

and why would i take lightly your departure,
when your countenance is the seed...
for me, that does sustain

i hope at last you see that in this brief
impassioned taste of sweet eternity

that you are the first in such a long time
to ever have had ALL of me.

and that ALWAYS i reserve a place for thee
if you should ever once again
desire
to turn this page with me.

Okay, now this is just another fine example of the excellence of your emotion. The only reason I have not read you more is that I was terrified of falling head over heels in love. That's how good it is.

Love this - like a wide open heart divulging the deepest feelings.

"so now i know that i must take
the bitter with the sweet..."

In this small line you have captured much wisdom Jeff; much indeed. Although there are threads of wistfulness exhibited in this, there is still a consuming bright light of hope that embraces the reader.

Well done Poet!
Light and Wisdom ...

Jeff I can't help but remark again about your intensity, it's your tradmark I think! I think for a love such as this one would be willing to pay almost any price. Stunning poem.

So passionately worded and expressed! Sometimes what starts in a blaze of glory, ends in just smoldering embers! Desire so intense has to cool down or evaporation will occur! This was a very moving write! SC

"that you are the first in such a long time to ever have had ALL of me" Perfect sentence within a really good write. For not always do we feel we've given ALL. Always holding back just a bit not wanting to lost one'self totally. Very passionate write. Lady J
