Fine Line

by Jeff Mason — Read all 207 poems by Jeff Mason

I don't know what category :) It's not horror and it's not humor, so... drama? And, I hope 'katy' knows I didn't leave a comment on her board out of hurt, I was really poking fun at Ted. [katy walsvik's a darling!]

Sixty-nine
and doin' time
for
computer crime.

There's such a fine line
we used to walk
in the sunshine --
of the white collar world

You don't pack your lunch,
you expense it with a client.

You don't go to the supermarket,
you trade on the stock market

Doin' 20 years for rigging the computers
of the New York Stock Exchange
to deposit profits
to a shell account
in the Caymans -- in a bogus name.

Stayed away from the dread white line
but I damned sure crossed that fine line.

No matter what year it is..no matter the crime..no matter who is stroking the keyboard or punching the time clock..Common sense and knowing right from wrong and descency is the key.
Good write Jeff. Lisa

There are "fine lines" in the world you work in and in mine as well as I found out recently. Well said, Jeff. Love and peace to you. Regis

Thanks Sara. No, this describes some of the people I've had to help "put away." Ted - he exaggerates. :) But... he said you are nice, too. -- Jeff

As a victim of white collar crime I can say that if you are decribing yourself you are not like Ted described you. He said you *are* a nice guy. ~ Sara

I work in a white-collar world as an Accountant and just last week I informed my new boss that it was my responsibility to have enough common sense to keep myself AND him out of trouble. He knows where the fine line is because I drew it for him. No job is worth going to prison for.
