Pretend is a poem from my unpublished poetry collection Hostage and other new and unpublished poems

The snow does not pretend to be white.

And it knows its time.

It understands when it must fall and hears

nature calling to it.

It covers the world with a cold blanket while

all life waits to be awakened.

I do not pretend to be great.

I have simply  awoken to the truth that I am.

people may not notice the potential which lives in me waiting,

always waiting to be,

and occasionally they have a glimpse inside its window,

watching it bloom  like a lotus flower, some times nourished

with nothing but mud.

The world does not pretend to be round.

It wont succumb to our perception.

Its shape has always been the same

despite human claim.

Our awareness cannot change what it is.

So why should it pretend?

Yes only way to find your self is be Yourself...n be true to ur self...

Creation made all of us unique with different finder prints..n why there should be comparison...not even a sign leaf on a tree look same to other.....

Be your self and find yourself by doing wat you love to do

Lacking self-consciousness, the world imagine that is anything more, because it just is. The hard thing about self-aware humanity is that we have a sense of self. So we pose, we pretend because what so many undesignated others may pretend, matters to us even more. Hard to break that cycle of nervous projection and introspection. We love being posers and actors. Even though we may deny it. But we really know what matters. Do we? Interesting poem Tascha. Bob

Interesting thoughts. When something is missing in a person's life, and they don't find reality very pleasant, they often drift into a pretend existence that makes everything better. A pretend existence can create a great story like Alice in Wonderland or it can lead to insanity.

I recommend living each day in reality rather than pretending.

Ron
