More damage is done to relationships from the outside than is maybe realized.
Naked Butterflies
.
We are not a couple, just friends.
So please, everyone try to realize that?
We’re examined like naked butterflies
trapped under strong glass.
Yes, it’s true we talk, sometimes in
tete-a-tete whispers,
because not everything we say
is for public dissection.
So we share inside jokes, smiles,
understanding glances.
Doesn’t mean we’re “together”,
whatever that means to
gossiping zombies.
So, we delight in
each other’s company at dinner or
romantic movies.
Hands held, random kisses are not
any indication
that wedding bells are soon to follow.
So? Maybe we’re only demonstrating
familiar affection, an
appreciation of the support
provided to a needed companion.
Don’t assume…
Any added intimacy we might enjoy
whenever,
is really no one’s business, is it?
There is no story, reason, nor rhyme.
No gift box to wrap us up in.
So… we are just friends.
That’s all, not a couple.
