Late Night Observations from the Back of the Bar . Accidental gentleman, Deliberate coy lady, Frequent fearful flyer, Occasional virgin, Side by side as circumstance laughed. Dying men, cash tab, no better place to move Kept Marlboro conversation brilliant, Slurred mascara, sloppy toupee Becoming more attractive as hours drowned. Deep look, small shrug, long kiss, An arm snaked around waist… Loneliness rationalized Sleeping together. It seemed a better alternative To waking up alone.
