And they will remain so, as long as the subject of religion or politics doesn't come up. My brother recently regretted that he had lost an old friend, finding out sometime after his death because they had been estranged over politics. Even as my brother, he nearly got that way with me.
That's why, when around old friends, I tend to have old friends who are a lot like me.
