REMEMBER ME

Source: greenandflex

Sleep my pretty bird.

I won’t say a word.

Just rest your weary eyes.

Then we say our goodbyes.

Soon you will fly away to heights

As you drift through the days and nights.

Your new badge of freedom

You’ll wear in your kingdom.

But always remember me

As the one who set you free.

Those doves seem to pick the most exposed places to take a nap. They must have one eye open while they sleep in order to escape neighborhood cats that have a tendency to try to sneak up on them.

The really nice thing about your poem is the last line where you set the bird free as a metaphor for letting someone go. Wonderful.

Utterly charming, subdued but liberating. Fine work.

I get quite attached to birds, if I had a pretty one like this, I might be tempted to hold it close and never let it go. I love your sensitive poem, your beautiful light, I will send you a private mail, I got something to share with you, love xo

freedom is more important than a gilded cage for wild
creatures, but for humans? I most prefer a gilded cage,
a comfort zone, and who can blame them?
