From the mantle drips the melting watch
Liquefied metal runs through the atmosphere
Incoherent and unclear.
The sand dunes roll and spray
Like water in the windstorm
Whisking away.
Mechanical eyes glisten and whirl
Like spirals in an oil painting
That ebb and swirl.
The stairs that lead to the ceiling high
Move through the window
Like a lattice spry.
Roses throughout the garden grow
Engulfing the canvas like food
Reeling and writhing to and fro.
The sleeping sky unleashes the rain
That cascades like crystal masses to
Chip and erode the wooden frame.
The floating Idol above the shore
Looks down upon the water’s reflection
Glistening against the sun’s galore.
The fishes flock madly below
Gazing into the looking glass world
Disjointed in its flow.
...melting away dreaming...comes to mind...your poem's words
juxtaposing the "strange" and the "real" world around a dreamer
just waking up to ...contradicting...everyday experience...
Thank you MJL for sharing the image of skilfully painted...with
poetic words...surrealistic piece of art.
Welcome to AD.
I wish I had bought a Salvador Dali original painting many years ago when I first learned of him. You have painted a beautiful portrait of the surrealist's work in your poem. Einstein theorized that space and time were curved and Dali took full advantage of that idea.
A cool write that I enjoyed.

PS. I think it's better that this poem had no illustration.
