September 11, 2001 I was on a car lot training for Pop-A-Lock. When the owner picked me up at our meeting point that morning he was listening to the radio and told me that an airplane had hit one of the Twin Towers. I asked him what happened and he said they don’t know yet. When I got home that day my Cable was on the fritz. I drove across town to my friend’s house and turned on her TV. I woke them up before the towers fell. We sat and watched the horror unfold, in silence. I haven’t been able to express my anger from that day, well not completely, and I’m not sure why. Maybe this will help some.
I sit and read the words that have been written
Some bring tears others bring smiles
But the words are important
And so I read on
I read about a mother’s pride
I read about a father’s pride
I read about a sister’s pride
Then I read about their sorrows
I wish war was avoidable
I wish war didn’t exist
I wish everyone could come home alive
But these are just wishes
I can’t express the anger I felt, back in 2001
As I ran down the hall to wake up my friends
And we sat and watched the towers fall
We sat and watched Hell on Earth
We couldn’t fathom what had happened
All we knew is that many lives were lost
We tried to understand why it happened
But we didn’t have any facts
To all those in the military
I thank you for all you’ve done
I hope you all come home safe
Never having fired a gun
I can’t express my thanks
To all those that have fallen
All I can do is read the words
And pray that you’re enjoying Heaven
