Have you ever noticed how some people act when they find out that you have a cold or pharyngitis (when your throat swells), which can happen with the common noncontageous head cold or just from coughing because of allergies, leads to laryngitis (when you loose your voice)? It's pretty much the same reaction I've gotten when people find out I'm gay. It's the look of shock and disgust that they give you....I HATE that look.
I don’t know you and you don’t know me
So why is there all this hostility?
I don’t hate you but yet you hate me
I’m not scared of you but you’re scared of me
I don’t understand all the hostility
I’m no different than you
I bleed red just like you do
I breathe oxygen; need food and water to survive
So why don’t you just let me thrive
Instead of always trying to put me down
Why don’t you take the time to look around?
Open your eyes and you’ll see that I’m no different than you
Just like you’re no different than me
So why can’t you get rid of your hostility?
It is just plain ignorance that should have disappeared long ago, Melissa. Unfortunately, it is still rampant although I believe that changes are happening little by little. Our government (Canada) is going to legalize same sex marriages. It's not much I suppose but it is a start. Love and peace to you. Regis
It's just human nature to fight change. That would make sense if homosexuality hadn't been around since biblical times and hadn't been accpted in many cultures historically and currently. But you know my views.

I know what you mean. I have the type of allergies you talk about. Being gay doesn't make for a bad person and admitting it shows how honest you are. Always keep that chin up and don't let the hostilities of those around bother you. Nice write.
heartfelt and honest write, melissa; thank you for your courage in speaking this topic! i don't exactly agree with the gay lifestyle, but i have friends who ARE gay, so i can't condemn them and judge; i try to see them for the people they truly are! what they do is none of my business but their own, and i don't push what i believe on them; that is wrong!! i try to keep my opinions to myeslf; it's safer that way!

I think that they just are plain long scared that somehow it is catching. People have to be willing to accept people for who they are. My brother is gay and he is my brother in that does not change. I loved him when I was growing up and I love him now, his being gay has no bearing on what makes him a man. And neither does it affect who you are. Because you know who you are and that is a person that I would prefer to know.
