DAYBREAK


My fluid flesh is woken
from a heavy drowse;
It's still dark, but a songbird
heralds the new day.

Our bed is an ocean where,
in these drifting moments,
I float like a downy, curled feather
carried by waves.

Skin gathers and tightens
as love's breath seeks me out.
Passion's silent rhapsody tunes me
taut as the string of a bow.

Within your encircling arms
I am so slight
I could be nothing more than imagination;
Yet it's my pulsating energy that fuels us.

Mute rhythms turn to thunder rolls
as the symphony drags me under;
Surfing the seabed
I am drenched in quicksilver.

I journey towards the centre of the earth's core
whilst exploring subterranean caverns
and searching the Halls of the Mountain King;
Then I swallow the orchestra whole...
