It doesn't take much to shift my thoughts towards summer, now that the winter one is past...

SOLSTICE


I dream of glistening islands:

Of Northern Lights
and Midnight Sun;
The Hebrides' dancing dolphins...

Of a crofters' cottage
close and sandy,
homely as a Hobbit's hole -
where I shall grow my hair
long again,
and play guitar
for Joni Mitchell's
"Blue"...

Of lying where
petticoat surf
rustles the shore;
Of conjugating like turtles:
so much moisture;
so much salt;
so much effort -
and lots of rhythm;
Dove-like in demonstrance,
incessant...

Of being dressed always
in the lace
of foaming seas,
and the filigree
of shimmering waves...

Of a 1960's mystic rainbow;
An Aurora Borealis of the soul...

A dream of "Blue".
