Somewhat of a contrapuntal write! Inspired by reading some of your great American prose poets.
UNANIMOUS
They both stood in the kitchen, shouting.
He left the room and went upstairs. She went outside to chop wood. He came back; finding her not there, he returned his tools to the garage. She came back; finding him not there, she went upstairs to pack. He came back; finding her not there, he grabbed his coat and car keys and left, slamming the door. She came back; finding him not there, she slammed the door and set her case down in the hallway before disappearing into the study.
The kitchen had a headache.
Later, he returned; finding her not there, he propped his note against the kitchen clock. Later, she returned; finding him not there, she left a letter against the marmalade jar on the kitchen table...
The kitchen was finally quiet, both of them not there.
It was the first time they had done anything together for ages.

Point and counterpoint Kate, even while missing the point.
I started to write a note to you but had no pencil. I found a pencil but had no paper. I put the pencil down and found some paper. Oh well that's the most I moved all day. LOL
yes, imaginative and sad, but so well written it is worth reading again and again

This is such a whimsical look at a sad situation that one can't help but laugh at them. I truly love the part about the kitchen getting a headache. Thank you for giving me a reason to smiile Kate.
