Revisiting the scene
I scale the walls of your face,
run a ladder up to your eyes:
no one home.

Beating on the door of your chest
your heart is locked and barred;
I am left to wander down unlit hallways,
my footsteps resounding empty.

I search in vain for reassurance -
for your voice to stop, rewind;
erasing forever its ugly, harsh tones.

Let me hear instead an echo -
comforting, soft, elusive -
that fades your final black to white,
saying now:
"Not so, not so, not so..."
