The scent of windfall fruit has been heady in the Indian summer heat of my West Country air today; always intoxicating at the best of times! And, of course, a reminder of my childhood... It is also Michaelmas - Feast of Angels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael: protector, messenger and guide respectively. Hence NO prizes for guessing my source, but this is obviously a "found" poem! A bit Artist and Model-y... at a stretch...! :)) K xx

FREEFALL


He gave up eternity
for one breath of her hair,
one kiss of her mouth.

She was his taste,
his touch:

“Sweet;
juicy;
soft on your tongue;
grainy, like sugary sand
that dissolves in your mouth.”

Made to fit together,
united they were a pear. :))
