At the beach bar, a chirpy ringtone
percolates rich, fluting wails
of piped Moroccan music
while beyond a peephole of palms,
the wingtip of a glinting windsurf
flitches, tantalising,
left to right, right to left.
At only five miles distance
across a cold and choppy strait,
rise mountains of an unknown continent,
a soaring charcoal graph line with
Atlantic’s graphite underscore
doing long division beneath.
Between certainty of sea and
vagaries of heat-veiled ranges,
a steamy mist diminishes,
its steady vanishing progressive,
inevitable as what lies ahead.
I'd be at the bar, too, lol, having one of those Love Connection drinks I like. Sounds peaceful, and your imagery shows a thoughtfulness about the surroundings. Great work:)

You have very effectively shared what you observed, Kate. Your verses are captivating like a compelling painting. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and best wishes,
Your title brought to mind that Doris Day song of yesteryear, "Que, Sera Sera", and with it, images of lilting softness.
Your poem brought to mind a different picture, however. I saw grays, mixed with black and whites/ Yes, there was the color of the sun and palms, but there was coldness in the moist mist of the mathematical division. Don't know why it left me feeling that way, maybe it was just too different than what I expected...
Either way, I am always captivated by your powerful imagery that leads me to see your pictures and feel accordingly.
I love the symbology of mountains on the horizon as graphs and it is true we ofte have to look away to look inside if we really want to find what our lifes are all about. Very lovely write indee dear Kate and truly one of your best.
Kate,
The perfect viewcard from a part of the world dear to me, I lived there for a few years many years ago and the sights and smells, the mountains and their colours and how the evenings came down are still wonderful in my head. Thank you so much for this.

between "certainty" and "vagaries"
shows that the mind is never at rest...
