Run Baby Run

Run as fast as you can, but never forget what got you in the shape to run forever.

Diverging paths cross spiral helix

woven tightly circled thoughts

transform your reality into your frailty.

Branches of your path shared by

others entice you forward with illusions

of greater existence, but within your soul

darkness converges and merges with the taint

you created. You run to escape the bars and

boundaries he placed on your soul. I felt your pain

and witnessed the angst in your life. Run, baby,

run. The world spins your centrifugal heart

until your grip is lost and darkness is your abyss.

By whatever means you seek your survival at the cost

of your own. Soon your shell will break and

diverging paths will grow once more. Your structure is weak

and empty of the joy that once filled its existence. Yes, run baby

run, diverge from the sweetened wiles of self-destruction

and illicit percepts. Walls once again will reign your wild

heart and imprison your peace without you even realizing it.

Contrite, and convoluted is your twisted truth. Rationalized and

justified to make your evil your good. Blood stained hands

will you always have. Never clean again unless washed in

the one blood. Empty eyes will wonder about the truth as they

seek your guidance. Run baby run but diverge not from truth

and reasonable thought, and accept nothing less than

freedom from bars and chains whether created by

others or of your own doing.

We make our own prisons, and in doing so we short-change ourselves. Break free from that bondage, and let God help you on your journey.

Guess the moral of this tale is to think twice before getting yourself in a situation difficult to escape from? Nicely written....

I feel and sense a lot of anger in this poem--or is it simply strong frustraton. People are never what we want, expect or hope they will be, and it sounds like the runner certainly has his share of faults--at least from where you stand. Its a strong poem and certainly made me think.
