Boris is a tabby cat,
other felines liked to tease

Because she has a boy’s name
they would laugh hysterically.

Then Boris told them proudly,
I was sent from God above

He sent me to this little boy
to carry on his grandma’s love.

I was a gift from her,
then he gave to me this name

To be here for his hugs
and just to be his friend.

So when the tears welled in his eyes
I could carry on her love

Because, she would be returning
to heaven up above.

My life it has a purpose
until he’s big and strong

To be here when he needs me
to feel his grandma’s bond.

So next time when you tease me
remember this my friends

I carry on a legacy of love
that never ends.

AUTHORS NOTE: Boris was given to my son sixteen years ago by my Mother one week before she died. She carries on her love for Robbie just as my mother loved him. And is a reminder for him of his grandmother. Though Robbie is all grown up and a Marine now Boris stays with me. She carried him through all his rough times in his youth and now sits with me as I type each day on my desk. Whenever he is in town she is the first thing he looks for and she was the hardest thing for him to leave behind when he went off to bootcamp..

Boris passed away: June 29th , 2006 and is deeply missed she was born July 24th , 1990.
