I know it’s a night of mischief, but I see more treats than tricks
The Autobot leader bounds around the yard kicking anything spherical
As far as it will go.
He still finds time to sift through an enormous pile of taffys and toffees and skittles and bursts of stars
And he snickers
The younger blood stands in her dress frozen by the fire pit
I can see red-orange and black flickering in her phenomenal little eyes
Oh what an amazing galaxy she must witness beneath the embers!
The streets are crawling with heroes and demons and the undead living for the rush
They race and hunt between houses like prides of ravenous lions
Because there’s safety in numbers
The haunted are forgotten tonight
The innocent will be rewarded
The eve is hallowed
The night is mischievous
Let this coming of age story of a boy named Bean take you back to a simple time. Set in a small southern town in the 1960's, encircled by a river and gleaming white cotton fields.
Now I know better. It's a time for mischief!
Great write.
