Snow Moon

A balmy breeze belies the date

February simpers

Dried leaves left to rustle at the touch

Crumble beneath the feet of the Weary

Cautiously walking around the bends

Aware of the mysteries lurking

Behind each shadow

Fearful despite faith

Bold of mind

Stout of heart

Yet ever doubtful

Daring to revel in the beauty...

Plantain trunks divided

Firs bowing

Willows swaying

The earth still dormant

Beneath the glow of the full moon

Stark branches a tracery of hope

Against the midnight sky

And from the North

The arctic storms approach

To bear down upon the quivering soul

With icy force of winter

Will flakes fall?

Gently, in utter beauty?

Or will ice wrap brittle gloves round souls

Yearning for sunny promise?

Does he grant secret wishes

This Snow Moon?

The wanderer's path winds along

The veiled vale of dreams

Reality pales for this night only

Lovely. Rich in imagery, and like a Carolina February, more than a little mysterious and uncertain what to do next. Keeps us on our toes, doesn't she. And so, our poetically gifted friend, do y o u!

hope- real or anticipated, is perhaps the dominating theme in this highly articulate and well crafted poem. I like the sense of suspense, the doubt regarding weather one can dare to trust- or perhaps rather not. Good work. Franz

Nicely done as I shiver with the North chilly winds trying to bring March in like a lion and not let go of Winter.

When wisdom touches a heartful of love, and art flows on to the lake of knowledge the lenses of the soul capture the "Snow Moon", and The American Fine Letters receives a glowing page in honor of The Mother Poet; (NATURE) and we understand what Poetry is.

Visting this Page is always a pleasant time, and "Snow Moon" shows us why it is that way.

I salute You, Poet Regina Ponds.

As you know, the moon is special for me. Your poem's poignant imagery enhances the emotions and meaning within the verses. You create an atmosphere in which the reader can lose herself or himself. Thank you for sharing this gift, Gina. Love and peace,

Regis

God, what a gorgeous title, Gina! Now, let me read its depth.

I remember such nights, from long ago. You've captured not only the snow of the moon, but, the snow of the soul, in February's winter hearth. I see key passages which pass the soul of time, yet, each line contains its own image. Snow Moon is beautiful, from the eyes of a maiden maden.
