There’s no need to be mean No reason to cause a scene Express yourself But be gentle and true And, of course, go do what you must do When motives are set a part From the rest Your partner can’t attest Of her own wishes, she won’t contest Your ways are stern Quite selfish, when will I learn That it’s you you’re thinking of For me it’s the sunshine and the crisp breeze Together we would have sat Near those wondrous trees And watched the pelicans fly ... Contemplating the summer nigh Will my body appease? Answer the messages; send and receive Across the pre-synaptic cleft Will the meeting be a greeting? Oh for that’s what I’m dearly thinking … And, powerfully may I stand in the summer On the sand By the sea In the water I’ll be transported Drifting freely On my own, Independently supported
