I was only five years old choppin wood with my my old man He got upset cause I was movin slow and he cut off my right hand It was'nt too long after that I left home with my ma' We rented a hotel room Where she serviced all her 'johns' My old man tracked us down one night Took a gun up to our place He shot my mama dead Then turned and shot me in the face The cops they hunted daddy down And me, well I survived I didn't look that pretty but I was glad to be alive. I spent my youth in foster homes Some good and others bad No one seemed to want a kid without a face and just one hand One time I took a bullys' dare And laid down across the tracks Well, the train it mangled my left leg while all the kids just laughed But the thing that hurt the most Was when my leg had been removed I was dropped off at my foster home It was was empty, they had moved I don't believe in God no more And Jesus never helped That's all a bunch of nonsense My lifes been a living hell I sit alone with my memories No face - One leg - One hand Writiting poetry for all the folks Who think they got it bad Edwin Dante Larson Copyright �2004 Edwin Dante Larson

dang, you don't hold back, do you? powerful, painful to read...graphic imagery that grabs the reader by the throat and won't. let. go. this poem demands to be read. GREAT job!
