Its easy to be humble Distorted psyche deluded by dreams of forever Reaching, grasping, anchored in dogma Determination, reason, and goals abandoned Blame averted by indoctrinated myths It�s easy to be humble To profess fallacies that enable and excuse failure To rationalize the sum total of an imperfect world, assigning values and ascribing well-rehearsed proverbial explanations It�s easy to be humble� When, for most� Humble is a lie Copyright �2005 Edwin Dante Larson

I think your premise is good. There is a lot of truth in what you say here, but I wonder if being "humble" isn't better than going through life arrogant and haughty. I mean, we need some sort of linchpin or anchor in life so that we do the right thing for ourselves and our fellow man. If we are allowed to commit "sins" without understanding that what we do hurt other people, then we are no better than savage beasts.
