The Ides of March

A song of war in business.

With the ides of March upon us
and a cold chill in the air
Dark betrayal waiting
I can see you standing there

Nothing seems to matter
when it all comes down to greed
You throw your wrench into the gears
just to watch the engine bleed

On you go
A one-man show
What did you think you'd gain
by inflicting so much pain
A fallen star
That's what you are
Your ego dragged you by the tail
But it did'nt take you far

I thought that this might happen
even though I trusted you
'cause people like you seem to
have a hard time with the truth

It would have been so good for you
It would've been so fair
But you stabbed me in the back
And then you tried to strip me bare

So I put on all my armor
and my angels did come down
to conquer you, defend the truth
and lay you to the ground

This chapter may have ended
but I'll be watching you
with others who have learned of this
so be careful who you screw

Off you go
A one-man show…
Your curtain closed

When one tells me they can play with the best of them.......I become weary and look for new friends. Its a nasty trap in the business world. Glad you saw in time to protect yourself. Great write.

Fantastic Edwin! It has the rhythm of "The Truth Is Marching On"
I sang it to that tune;-)Excellent message too!

I've worked with too many people like this.
They seem to be in the majority and, what's worse,
the companies condone their political slotter by
looking the other way. Then afterwards, they go to the bars
and discuss the details of a forthcoming promotion.

Blessings,
Joseph
