She would wile away her warm spring days
with gardens, flowers and fields,
dreaming of green gables
and blades of knighted steel

He splashed through golden sunlight
woods and water held his key
to a land they both would visit
where they'd share their fantasy

They dreamed of far off places
of the lives that they would lead
that in the distant future
they would someday meet

They both knew inside their hearts
though a million miles away
that they would find each other
and live in love one day

But time is like a whip
with every lash the pain grows shorter
The stones that hold your castle strong
crumble with the mortar
It all comes back to who you are
and you'll know you haven't gone that far
if the image of your destiny
is muted by a stagnant scheme
and something holds you back
when nothing else should matter

Life is a gift so precious
Let your soul take flight
Build your castle strong
to endure the test of time
When it comes back to why you're here
its all so rich and oh so clear
as the image of your destiny
reawakens vivid dreams
and nothing holds you back
or is strong enough to matter

Their lives were never easy
their lives were never plain
and in the end they'll never wonder
if the price was worth the gain

'Cause everything they dreamed of
as children in the sun
would come to be
reality
Pictures of their timeless love

Now in the summer of their lives
their candles shine through wind and rain
and light a path so rich and true
their lives not lived in vain

'Cause it all comes back to why they're here
its all so rich and oh so clear
for the image of their destiny
was sprung from vivid dreams...
Green gables, woods and water

Oh Eddy, I've struggled so much to compose a response to this one because it was so meaningful for me. You've captured it perfectly. I love you!

Very well done. As one who writes of castles, dreams and dragons of life, I enjoyed this. Life is what it will be, dreams are what we do in the between. Lady J

Nicely done, but what does a yank know about castles, unless he's a yank in king arthurs court..

What a great write and it is funny how life is build almost like masonry one brick at a time, and sometimes they need to be replaced, removed repaired etc. Good metaphor.

Love and life, like grains of sand of a beach castle, with its unassailable towers and its dungeons.
A vivid expressed poems of a heart tribulations.
