Enemies of Light

The enemies of light
each march toward death
with banners high

One side proclaims the end is near
They bow their heads
and spread their fear

The other seeks to dominate
and rule the world
through force and hate

Each exchanged the gift of life
for their needy souls and troubled minds
too weak to read between the lines
Dogmatic chains
have left them blind

Indoctrinate
Annihilate
or lie in wait
and masturbate
Distorted visions
Twisted  fate

Clouds have swallowed up their hope
Delusion smothers reason
But the good news in the grander scheme
is that they're here just one short season

For in Creations' corporation
their pompousness grows tiring
They subtract from the equation
and soon may find themselves dispatched
to the one who does the firing*

*(Pun intended ;)

We are entrusted as the stewards of this world
Live without fear...
Savor every moment...
Make a difference...
Let intelligence and passion
break the chains of regressive
suicidal ignorance

Awaken from the stupor...

from the death march
of demented judgmental prophesiers
of doom and darkness
for they are the enemies of light...
traitors to creation

Revel in the joy and miracle of life
Use the gifts that you've been given
to make this world a better place,
a brighter place for all here now
and the many future generations

A fine exhortation Edwin - one of your best constructs, I believe. The last stanza is first-class, and also a heart-lifting summation to your thoughts. I do agree, too, that we all have been given a mandate of stewardship for this planet and our small roles in the greater whole. In this, however, many have failed woefully. Blessings ...

Light and Wisdom ...

You are a brilliant poet Cuddles. I'm in awe of your talent.
I especially loved the pun and the last stanza. So much wisdom in these lines.

in reality, the battle between the darkness and the light, is indeed that of the "judgmental prophesiers," yes, "traitors to creation" and those channeling the brightness of universal being which naturally incorporates planetary solvency ... you poem explores the truism, that negative energy and thoughts of doom only aspire to promote such events from occurring ... only by being positive and exhibiting as well as applying the light of inspired thoughts can we successfully alter the planetary state of affairs and successfully effect the future through positive imprinting of spiritual dna via the cultural collective consciousness ...

excellent poem, Edwin ...

Great write, well put. I start with the people around me and remain good to those I meet. I can only hope that my light brightens their journey. Lady J

Very well stated and a good healthy fresh attitude on life. We cannot always change those around us who are the pompous, cruel or hateful but we can be models of what we as humans should be. Great lines and expressive images.

"...a death march of demented judgmental prophets..."
Are we all that demented? because we always are passing judgment and pass unwarranted prophesies.
A strong statement.
