All parents dread the lonliness of their first Christmas without one of their children. I wrote this for my daughter (as a song) when she was moving across the country for the first time.
There'll be one less Cristmas present, one less plate to set
Someone special will be missing, you'll be hard to forget
I'll still decorate an evergreen, we'll sing christmas carols too
Unwrap presents christmas morning, and again I'll think of you
I'll watch the snowflakes falling, help the kids build a snow fort
Later warm up before a crackling fire, and once again I'll hurt
Pile my plate with turkey dinner, bang for quiet with my fist
So I can toast to loved ones missing, you'll be first on my list
I'll replay all our memories, of Christmasses gone by
Feeling such an ache of lonliness, but I'll resist the urge to cry
Yeah I'll still believe in Christmas, even though I'm not with you
When the phone rings I'll be smiling, cause that's what lonely Daddie's do.
Someone special will be missing, and that someone special's you

Memories are great at Christmas times, but you have enough to last a lifetime. Cherish them always and keep letting her know how much you love her. Memories are made every day and your ability to write about them make them even more special.
