So long ago you blew out, the flame, of love's last flickering light
You took away my love for you, you left me shattered in the night
I cried hours, days, then weaks, till the months went rolling by
I then took to booze and one night stands, to forget the urge to cry
Then out of the the gloom and darkness, a smiling lady held a spark of light
Though I tried to tell her how you crippled me for love, she refused to listen, held me every night
She knew how much you hurt me but still took the time to understand
She slowly healed my aching heart and squeesed my lonely hand
Years went by, I forgot your love, left it somewhere on a dusty shelf
I made the lady my wife, raised a family, made something of myself
Now here you are, in front of me, and renewing all of yesterday's pain
After fifteen years you just blow in, like some old passing train
Now you tell me that you never forgot, that special love that we once shared
You wish you could just turn back time, show me how much you really cared
You asked me if there was a chance, that we could together, once more walk
I touch your cheek as I turned away, saying "Babe, theres no key made for that lock."
