Young girl swoons, beneath the moon
of this all Hallowed night
Giggling, laughing, have no fear
Yet she shivers in her fright
Crystal eyes metamoraphise,
into a liquid state of haze
Velvet voice, not by choice,
turns to screaming rage
Satin skin turns opaque thin
and veins map out her face
Gentle bone, now to stone
gnarled fingers now replace
Young girl’s clothes, now in tatters pose
an ogre burst from her cocoon
Leathery wings, like giant bat things
block out the silver moon
Then to the sky, with a horrid cry
to hunt her midnight prey
Trick or treat, smell my feet
sweet children so late play
Her radar sense, a lone child tense
swoops close to sniff the air
He’s all alone, sweet to the bone
plucked up into night air
She soon alights, on that night of nights
To a cave aged in blood she falls
She eats her fill, then leaves her kill
She can hear her mother’s calls
She lands close by, and breaths a sigh
as she leaves her altered state
Her mother pride, she cannot hide
As she opens their front gate.
