As we near Rememberence Day here in Canada as the son of a WW II soldier I often wonder if we'll ever be able to say no more war

When the cry went out to far and wide to all brave and hardy men

Twas the wee young lads who had no fear who answered ten by ten

Your country needs you for just cause come follow forth the flag

The soldiers bands of pipes and the drums played glory bound we’ll brag

Those guns thee put in young men’s hand’s and trained them how to kill

They fail to teach them how to die so young men’s bodies bloat and swell

Grand uniforms of army green and buttons and buckles of new shined brass

And Mothers tears and young wife’s fears are left bloodied in the grass

In Flanders’s Fields the poppies grow…a bullet stronger then a pen

Because when the cry goes out to far and wide it’s still answered by young men

Maybe they were wee yound lads who answered the call, but they were old enough to put their lives on hold to help protect the country that they loved. Go much feeling you put in to this one. Karen

Chilling in the reality of the words. Yes we do seem to forget...

Felix you make a powerful statement in this poem. Mere boys, with no idea about what they face, answer the call...they return men. I love your work.
With thanks...Chanti
