Teardrops fall on pavement black
She should look ahead and not look back
Lightning flashes cross the sky
She does not pause to wonder why
Road lines stretch into the night
Not another car in sight
Pedal down the power of speed
An evil sin a lot like greed
She holds a bottle to her lips
No seat belt snuggled round her hips
A wife, a mother out there alone
Knowing someone waits at home
She broke her vow of love for life
How could she now be a loving wife?
He groped her, poked her, said goodbye
Only afterwards did she start to cry
Now the roadway blurs before her eyes
She thinks of all the her future lies
The semi sees her much too late
One foolish night has sealed her fate
Husband broken makes his graveside stand
A little girl tightly holds his hand
They say goodbye they don’t look back
As teardrops fall on pavement black.
I love how you can weave your words
into a story that touches the heart
and soul. Outstanding, my friend.
