Time-trodden hearts scream for fulfillment that never arrives
Faith-battered souls plead for answers to their prayers
Mind sets bend and stretch beyond repairs
The last few believers’ blank eyed stares
Parents tuck their sweet innocents into eternal beds
The reaper stole their future once so bright
The guilty walks with laughter through the night
More believers turn away from the spirits light
Age holds no answers only deeper loss
We watch the candle burning to the wick
Too late we see the fights we didn’t pick
We were too busy burning time and being sick
Now the rapists, the abusers the men of death
Know civil rights rules serve to the guilty
They laugh and commit crimes vile and filthy
Prison time – a vacation for them, don’t be silly
And the baby weeps in his home of straw
As the man on the cross gazes off in despair
While the spirits flame seems to weak to share
As the Father weeps knowing so few really care.
