I have written hundreds of poems stories etc over the years but this is the first one I have ever written about my mom who was a super women who I loved with all my heart...

The years have dulled the aching of losing you to the Angels call

When the Lord called you home I thought I’d never heal at all

The memories mother that we shared were covered in a hazy fog of loss

Sometimes at night I’d dream of you and then just turn and toss

I remember Mother all you did to make nine kids feel your love

You treated me a little special and I think you still watch me from above

So many things in life I think I did because of the influence you gave

Like playing guitar and writing books you seemed to guide me from the grave

Raising my daughter was a success because your example taught me well

You made my little girl special too before you had to go away

I know you’d be as proud of her if you were still with us today

I know you probably find it hard to believe that I’ve become a Poppy too

Oh Mother how you’d squeeze her tight just like with my girl you used to do

I still recall home made French fries you made me when I was home sick

I remember sitting at your dying bedside and that’s when I cry real quick

I never wrote about you before mother cause it always tore me up inside

The ones I guess we loved the most are the ones are feelings often hide

In a few years I’ll be the age that you were when you said goodbye it’s true

I want the ones I leave behind to know I was me because you were you!

I’ve never stopped loving you mother.

Whew! I've got tears in my eyes..this was a beautiful tribute. I can't even think about losing my own mother with out tearing up...I can't even imagine the pain of that loss.

I'm sure that your Mother is watching you from above. This is a very powerful poem and a great tribute to your Mother. One that any Mother would be proud of and I'm sure that she must have been proud of you. Don't ever be afraid to let people know how much you love them, it is a part of our lives. Thanks for sharing your love for your Mother with us. Karen
