A poem about dreaming of a summer night that a fellow author on here inspired me to write when she mentioned fishing...Thanks Lisa

Let’s wander down to the creek where the old oak trees overhang

Lay a blanket on the carpet of grass and forget about everything

Maybe drop a trout line in the water but forget to bait the hook

Maybe watch the way your lips move as I watch you read a book

Let’s raid the fridge of all the things we’re not supposed to eat

Like cheese and cold fried chicken and even a chocolate treat

Grab a bottle of wine for you, we’ll get a six pack of beer for me

Maybe forget our watches and wait there till the stars above we see

Let’s pretend that we’re still youngsters after a game on Friday night

I’ll kiss you and you’ll kiss me and we’ll hold each other tight

Making love was something special then so sweet and so wildly free

I can’t think of when it last was that it felt like this to me.

Come with me, and grab a sweater, in case our age gives us away

We’lll hold hands, kiss tenderly, and watch the evening steal the day

This is the best kind of romance, Felix, the kind we can all relate to our own youthful lives. It is a good thing to let our child out of it's box, often, that we can revel in the frivolity that we have, for some reason, set on the shelf beside our youth. That child is still a big part of who we are. Excellent poetry!
Take care,
Sherry

Beside Still Waters by Jill Eisnaugle

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
