Love and Lust, and a Young Girl’s Heart
The rain hides her tears as she walks the dirt lane
And she tries to block out the wind that calls his name
She wanted love, he offered lust, and she wasn’t game
Backseat ultimatum, a 93 Hyundai, is not the same
Wet clothes clinging like a funeral shroud of soured love
Flashes of chain lighting in the distance thunder from above
Put out or get out, parting words stung, like a slap from a leather glove
Pulled up her jeans, buttoned her blouse, not for sale, now shove
Sees the lights of home, won’t be alone, Momma’s open arms
Hush now hush, out of them clothes, no need for alarms
You done right girl, hold tight to your heart, save your charm
Now off to bed, Momma tucks her in, now safe from harm
Sobs in her sleep, Momma’s tears burn, too old for lullabies
Morning sun breaks, syrupy hot cakes, her smile survives
Quick kiss goodbye, grabbing books, school bus arrives
She won’t give up, she's strong of heart, and so quick revives
