The snow sneaks away in secret
A little at a time
Like it knows it shouldn’t be here
It’s guilty of some crime
I saw some green sprouts showing
Little promises of spring
I saw a robin on my back deck
So perfect he did sing
A little boy with his winter parka open
Splashed in a puddles park
Sun warmed days of wonder
When life is but a lark
I sipped a cup of coffee
Pleased with this world of mine
Then I heard the weather forecast
I didn’t feel so fine
“A cold front from the north
Is sweeping down tonight
Expect at least a foot of snow
You heard it you are right
So keep your shovels handy
Keep the blankets close at hand
Temperatures will drop below freezing
It said, I hope you understand”
So I went back in and sat down
In my old easy chair
Added a splash of whiskey to my Java
It only seemed to be fair
I’ll cuddle neath a blanket
Watch MASH reruns one more time
Go back into hibernation
Until it’s truly summer time.

I look forward to summer too, but with snow today it seems far off. There is nothing like winter to catch up on inside things and sit in front of the fire and read, or just enjoy visiting with friends. When summer arrives we put these things away again for next winter. Karen
