When the winds of friendship change...

I won’t shed my tears outside my heart

Nor let the world see me fall apart

I won’t beg and plead for you to stay

Nor will hurting words to you I’ll say

I won’t give up believing in the world I love

Nor curse the darkened skies I see above

I won’t be a victim of my lonely pain

Nor hang my head in lost friendship’s shame

I won’t pretend that you’re no longer here

Nor chase the wind with you somewhere

I won’t ever be sorry that we once met

Nor the words we shared I won’t forget

I’ll hold our memories safe and secure

In my box of things I keep forever more.

Beautiful words. Sometimes friendships have to end, but not be forgotten. I too treasure memories of dear friends, and keep them forever more. Karen

I wish I had the power to do the same...but I afraid...I am just not ready to do that!!

The deepest cuts are those that hurts the most....and leave a scar for a lifetime!!

Your powerful and dramatic words challenge each of us to treasure each friendship more. At what point will we see it end? And, we must remember that not every time will the ending be between lovers, between childhood pals, or betwween to individuals who meet later in life and need each other for the lengths of their lives. Thank you for a brighter morning! - Bill

I'm with you, Felix. I'd never give up a moment of the love I've had to protect myself from the heartache that followed. That love can remain with us forever, long after the person or relationship is gone. Very nice poem.

This is awesome, Felix. If only all of us could hold fast to your "Code of Friendship." Friendships can be so deep and personal that often times when they end, ego and hurt keep us from savoring what we shared, if even for a short while. Hopefully, with time, we will recall the wonderful things we shared and learned during the time when our friendship was in full bloom.
Take care,
Sherry

Very nice Felix. You are so good at writing feelings. May the Lord be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & (((HUGS))), Barbie

I wish I had the strength that you describe in these verses, Felix. I know the wisdom therein; I am not sure I could do it. Well expressed and shared. Thank you. Love and peace. Regis
