This poem affected me a lot writing it until the point I knew I had to change it. Although origianally written to a friend I believe it is meant to be my epitaph and my fingers were guide in the rewrite by my muse.Forgive my changes those of you who preferred the earlier version. Felix

A Poem of Farewell,

Not Goodbye

March 24, 2005

He will never shed another tear,

he has shed all his heart contains

He will not say again how much he cares

only his memory remains

We will not forget the good times shared,

nor will we elevate the bad

We will cling to what was right,

not dwell on moments sad

We will see him in the morning,

as we rise to bright sunshine

We will see him in the stars at night,

and we will know that he is fine

We will see him in a rainbow,

when we think the rain will never end

We will see him in a pot of gold,

just waiting for us round the bend

We will see him in the falling leafs,

gently cushioning the path we walk

We will feel him in the gentle breeze,

in our ear his voice will talk

If fate should someday cross our paths,

we walk together once again

He will smile and offer us his open arms

and hug away our pain.

A fine epitaph written on the day I took my dying mother to the hospital for the last time. It's a fine way to think of passing of anyone, friend, relative or self.

Dear Felix,
I found the first one moving but this one put a tear in my eye. You don't need to die to be remembered though Felix. Your words are a constant reminder of the love and life that flows through you.

felix, goodbyes are the hardest things to say and do, especially when we say goodbye to that special friend and go our separate ways. This is a very good and deep poetic work. I enjoyed reading it, but it brought back memories of when my mother said goodbye to me, when I was only 12. May the Lord be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & (((HUGS))), Barbie

Saying good bye to a special friend is one of the hardest things in the world to do, but sometimes it just has to be done. The friend that I said goodbye to will always hold a special place in my heart. Maybe someday we will meet again as you said in your poem and a new friendship will begin. No one knows what the future holds in store for any of us. This was such a beautiful poem. Karen
