Beach Walks, Tumbling Thoughts. Old Age Grumblings Too

It's been a long road on a short path...

Pounding waves, like yesteryears slaves,

have crushed the rocks to sand

I walk the beach; all alone I reach,

as I try to better understand

How life is cruel, till you sit and drewl,

youth is just vague history

As I tumble and I fumble my memories,

to sort live's mystery

Waves follow each other, brother after brother,

in a washing shower of foamy spray

Moonlight turns the sea green, like we've all seen,

as my time just slips away

I would not mind growing old, getting cold,

though it takes a toll on my ego

The lines, and the gray and the pains that stay,

like the waves come row to row

Angry seagulls scream, that it’s real not a dream,

accept it as your due

I skip a rock, as I pause my walk,

because the night turns inky blue

Where is the man, with the golden tan,

that would change the world with time?

I’m still here, but I’ve lost my beer…it’s gone like last night’s wine

The sun rears its head, getting out of bed,

to greet my rambling thoughts

I pause once more, to see the sights from shore, the little forget-me-nots

I recall a poem, one so well known,

‘twas “The Ancient Mariner” I think

I’ll return to the sea, there I’ll forever be,

and the moon goodnight shall wink.

Excellent! Filled with deep thought provoking wisdom. At 44 years old, I have these "grumblings already!(: One must contemplate one's real worth. But there is always someone who values us more than we feel we deserve!

Very dramatic write. So much feeling. We are all growing older each day, but we should live life to the fullest with the time that we have here on earth. We just have to accept the ups and downs of life and go on from there. I could never get a rock to skip across the water. Karen

Felix dear, this is really a very moving and thought provoking piece. As for me, I am still on that beach, waiting, hoping, dreaming. But that is all it will be for me, I'm afraid. Like Lisa said, AD will be the only place where our words will be appreciated by our peers. It is so sad that life treats us with a slap in the face, everytime we turn around. OMG WAIT! I see a flat stone that looks like it will skim. I toss underhanded the stone on the top of the water, and it skips seven times. I make a wish, and pray to God with faith so strong, that He will help me make it come true. May the Lord be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, (((HUGS))), Barbie

Felix, I think you will find you are not alone on that beach. There are many of us 'ol poets strolling along side you.
For some of us, AD will be the only place our words will ever form their towers..Mine being one of them.
We will all return to the sea some day..and find the peace we've searched so hard for.
This is one beautiful and gracious write. Thank you for sharing it.

Felix, this my friend is one of the most touching poems I have read in a long time. I can see so much of me in this. I just recited this poem to my wife as we lay in bed watching to storms roll in from the sea once more. She as I could feel it course through our very beings..wondrefully done on this fine and stormy sea morn.

"TO WALK MY BEACH"

~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~

I walk my beach alone
I walk tall in pain
Holding my head up high
No good to even try
Only you could stop my cry
What is the use of abuse
When your man runs out on boose
And you get bruised
that's no excuse
I refuse to give...yes
I refuse to give
That's what I call been abused
I walk my beach well
Pick up some shell
Looking for some answer
But a heavy swell
what a disaster
Knocks me over
And I cry out of laughter
But now I walk my beach with you
My feet in your feet
My eyes is your eyes
And all I need is my Ocean
My Shell, my Soulmate
My eyes in your eyes
With love abuse instead
That's all I need
That's all I need
Always
Indeed
