How many of us still remember our honeymoons?

The Virgins Honeymoon

The soft candle light filters through the silk of her nightgown

He sees her naked form highlighted by this backdrop

Her lips tremble a little as she stands there so vulnerable to him

Offers him her virginity, an invitation to love her that he cannot stop

He rises, lays aside the book he’d been pretending to read

As she bathed, perfumed and lingered just a little out of sight

He smiles trying to reassure her that anticipation need not be feared

When two lovers first come together in the passion of the night

Tenderly their lips meet; bodies press soft down against grey steel

Fingers explore each inch of skin like drawing with streaks of heat

Tongues taste, and taste, and taste again as tremors slowly build

Moans and groans and sighs of love flow from way down deep

The silk falls with his clothing on their path to her bridal bliss

They ease like fragile china figures to satin sheets in turned down bed

Naked as god created them he barely touches her face with fingertips

Like a classic De Vinci painting she seems surreal in his head

And when their love juices finally flow …

like two streams blending to a river, calm serene

They both know that they will not let the years erase…

this moment of time they loved supreme

Dear Felix,
You've written this sensual, loving poem with such sensitivity. It captures so exquisitely the act of virginal love-making as it is meant to be. It has both a tenderness and almost reverent feel to it. *sigh*
Only one suggestion I can make and that is to change the line, "We ease like fragile china figures to satin sheets in turned down bed" to read, "They ease like....etc." This will keep the perspective right. You've written about 'she' and 'he' and then switched to 'we'. This might have been deliberate. I wonder if you were writing as an observer and then at some point identified and that was the result - a personal memory incorporated. Hope you don't mind my suggestion.

Felix, I found myself actually trying to be quiet, as I read, so that I wouldn't disturb the air.
A beautiful and precious write.

What a beautiful capture of that most special moment, Felix. I could feel the anticipation and that little bit of fear as they offer themselves completely to one another for the very first time. The hope is that this moment will live on forever and that it will so strengthen their bond that their relationship will stand the test of time.
Take care,
Sherry

WELCOME HOME, Felix... wot you been burnin up there in that stove of yours?! You've come in from the cold with a vengeance here and paint the most tender and loving portrait of how the "first time" should be for all who truly wait to gift their all-in-all to another. You build the reader's anticipation alongside that of the virgin's and certainly evoke some powerful memories and feelings. A wonderful bedrock for a relationship to be built on... particularly if things just keep getting better and better! :)) Loving and sincere... but the book reading is a fascination!!! LOL Kate xx
