One of the poems that I actually wrote at my camp in the mountains without benefit of computer...

Age starts to rob our youth away

Once we pass our teenage years

When out childhood's freedom is replaced

By adulthood cares and fears

Parenthood brings us laugh and worry lines

Responsibility for another's life

Time to settle down to confirmity

Time to listen to your husband or wife

In our forties we start worrying

About the habits we must quit

Like greasy food and cigarettes

The booze that made us look like a twit

At fifty comes the baldness

We get the greying temple hair

For our eyes we need bifocals

It just doesn't seem quite fair

As each year races by us

We say goodbye more often now

To relatives and friends our age

Our days seem numbered now somehow

but if age robbed our youth away from us

I still think the memories are worth the ride

You see I think if you add it all up

We all laughed more then we cried.

I only wish I had could laugh more than I cry. Memories for me of my youth, are only as far as 12½ years old, then everything became dark, frightful, scary, and then lonliness set in, and I knew I had been abandoned. The only real life I have had, when laughter was everyday for me, was in my preteens. Then the laughter stopped, torn forcefully from me, by selfish means. I will never get that out of my system, cause this nova sized hole in my soul, will always be there. A hole that has no memories of......so, my memories of what was, certainly wasn't worth the ride, cause I was stranded on that ride forever, and it has not even completed yet. Not yet. Thnx for sharing Felix. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

This one is right on track. But without our past to reflect on it would mean that we have not learned a lot of lessons on how to live. And yes the memories are worth the ride. This is really something to think about for the ones not yet reaching the golden age. Karen

A true reflection on life Felix!!

The moment you strike the nifty fifties...it's downhill all the way...you will even overtake the ground at sometime and land up six feet under!!

But I said I want to be cremated...no one will put me UNDER...lol...and they must spread my ashes upon the ocean...and pray to God no fish die!!

Love Tinka

Excellent... I don't know if I could survive my past, if I could relive it... but a majority of it, I wouldn't change...

... and still do (laugh more!!) You nailed it here, Pops... think I am an emotional retard and physically precocious!! Since I have been getting to grips with all the old baggage of 47 years, I have and do weep like a willow - and yet I have never laughed as much as well! This site has been the best $25 I have ever spent as so much healing has poured into me through all you gorgeous people who have become like family. And adding it all up?! You daily add to my score, Felix! Bless you and enjoy EVERY moment for what it's worth; I know you're smiling right now!! LOL Kate xx (c:=

Very insightful poem. Thanks for mentioning the habits we have to quit and the bifocals we need for our eyes. Some organs may not even function as actively as they have once been. Age robs away their youthful vitality. But as time races up against us, we accumulate more experience to pass them to the younger generations. Though at any age one seems to be still having problems with the pitfalls of daily life. Wonderful poem written in a camp over the mountains
