Who Am I?
Hello grand-daughters dearest,
I’d like to tell you who I am and what’s in my head
I’m the other guy, you may not remember me,
who cried beside your delivery beds
I’m the old guy with the grey beard
the shiny cue ball head without the hair
Holding you in so many pictures reading a story
tucking you into your little beds my dears
I’m the one who always worried and fretted
whenever I knew one of you were sick
The one your Mommas always called first
cause they knew I’d show up super quick
I’m the one who’s finger you guys stretched
an inch always tugging me here and there
The guy who always ate your soggy food
that you would insist that I must share
I’m the one that drove that old red jeep
that you always called vroom, vroom
The one who’s heart would fill with pride
when one of you would run to me across a room
I’m the writer and the author of rhymes and poems
And songs bout you that made me glad
Cause I’m also the guy on the jacket of the book
I wrote for your great granddad
I’m the one your Momma called her Dad,
your Nana called be other things do tell
You began at one year old to call me Boppa
I can hear you call it still.
Love forever,
Boppa

What a beautiful dedication to your lovely granddaughters! You have painted quite a picture of a truly remarkable Grandfather. I hope that I am still around when my children have children so that I can be a loving Grandparent. I am a step-grandmother to Tom's grandchildren and I love being with them. Keeping up with the little ones keeps one young (or at least young at heart ...LOL)! Thank you for sharing a precious part of your life.
Cynthia
Take care,
