Aye Billy...ever been to sea before?

Privateers Demise

Aye twas many moons of full since what hath passed

Ere the time we transgressed with natures ways

We had been raiders of the sea upon the briny surf

For near three hundred lonely bloodletting days

Plundered loot of others toils filled deep our mid-ship hold

Left guarded by the ghosts of souls we dispatched down below

From the heat of Spanish Main to Nova Scotias frozen shores

We were pirate privateers in the Kings name do not you know

With cutlass edge, musket ball and cold hard cannon iron

We took nary a prisoner aboard to live tell their horror tale

We flew neath the flag of bleached crossed bones and skull

Nary a ship could stop us but that then came a frightful gale

Oh that fearsome night turned into a Satan’s rage

Winds ripped our sails and broken lanterns set our ship to burn

Masts and boats and man alike went o’er the sides to doom

While the ghosts shrieked out…now mates, now, now it tis your turn

When morning light broke to calm seas the next day

I still lay tied to the beam I had found the night before

Looking round I was the last man left to tell the gruesome tale

About revenge of the lost sailors murdered who’d sail to sea no more

OMG Felix, this is very good...I love pirate stories, and you told it here with fervor and brevity, in the voice of one almost doomed. You painted a picture so vivid, that I could see everything as it happened. You are not only a good poet, but a great painter of words. May the Lord Jesus bless you and yours, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

You are soooo good at this story-telling lark, Felix... you engage the senses with the details you select and bend our minds with the "gaps" that blow our brains like musket balls! The whole makes for a very evocative and atmospheric narrative that draws the reader right in to that place of experience. Your name's not Davy Jones, is it? :)) Thanks, Boppa, for making a gal feel OK even when not at her best: Mwah! Kate xx

I can smell the sea and feel the terror, Felix! And I can hear that blood-thirsty Captain speaking in my head. Well done!
