broken fragments of my heart

This is from my memory banks from another time and another life but sometimes a hurt is so bad that the pain can still be felt as real as if it is today...

broken fragments of my heart

the mirror tells no lies  it reflects what it must see

even when flesh with glass impacts it still won’t set me free

instead now a hundred forlorn faces stare at me

in scorn I see a thousand teardrops falling

blood drips in time as the teardrops mourn

I lick the cuts of red, taste the salt of my own blood,

words tumble through my mind in an endless, merciless flood

bind my wound with her kerchief she left hanging on a knob,

the only thing she left except for her memories and…

 again her name I sob

Oh Felix I've been there and can relate to the pain. There are times when I can tangibly feel the pain that you so well expressed here. As karen said, pain moulds us. I have no regrets but that I might have hurt others. That will always get to me.
Beautifully captured as always. You have such a precious heart.

Pains of our past make us what we are today. You have shared yours with us in a way that not many people can do. Very good. Karen

Blimey, I can taste the blood of this, Felix... I am so sorry for your pain. But perhaps each revisitation is like a healing flood to release and work through the issues, like a succession of waves, and with each memory is the "washing away" of that which has poisoned the system, until, like holding that bleeding heart under a running tap, the water turns eventually from blood-red to clear... I believe that this must be the case, hard as it is to keep facing the pain time after time... but there will be a point when so much has been washed away that it has no power to hurt you anymore. Truly. Wish I could hug you... I feel this. LOL, Boppa, here's a bit more salt from my eyes to help staunch the flow... Kate xx

Dear Felix, this is beautiful in its sadness. Those splinters hurt all the more as the more the crystal shattered was pure and rare...

Very fine, Felix. An honest, poignant write. I let the hurt from a past relationship haunt me until I no longer needed the pain. And I let go. But it took years to be able to do that. I remember the joy and bless the relationship for the love that was given...
